Right now i´m sitting in an internet cafe which is a few blocks from the house that i´m living in with a family here in Mérida, which is sort of an interesting situation because the parents are in the process of getting a divorce.  The name of the mom here is Ëlly and the Names of my two ¨Brothers¨ in the family are José (18 years old) and Andrés (14 years old).  The house is really fancy and has a gate that you need to open to get into the driveway.  In back there´s a pool, but the family doesn´t have water in it until April and May when it gets to the 100´s and 110´s farenheit 45 or 50 celcius.

I´m taking classes in a University que se llama Universidad Aútonomo del Yucatan in archaeology and human rights.  Also, it´s really cool because one of my Professors Maestra Zoco is a known expert in Mayan pottery.  This week i got to touch thousand year old pottery shards from Chichen Itza! With writing and hieroglyphs.  It was sort of eery thinking about the history of the shards. Who made them? Why?  Who has used them and for what? What paths have they gone down.  In other words i was a little bit excited (obviously).

Also, the food here is the best in the world.  I have learned how to cook Papadzules (a type of tortilla with egg and squash which is amazing), Salbutes (Fried tortillas with a method that makes them crispy and bubbly with onions and pollo and egg mmmm. and pollo pibil, which is chicken which is let marinade all day in ayummy tomato base sauce which is so so tender and yummy.    Also, i have learned how to cook a Lasagna which is amazing with queso manchego.

Ok, i´m getting sort of hungry so i think i´ll go catch dinner.
Peace,
Reed
